Managing Ads in ChatGPT Through Claude Code
OpenAI launched ads inside ChatGPT and released an API for them. I built an app on top of it that Claude Code runs: it sets up a campaign and guards both the rules and the spend. Public on GitHub.
This app is open on GitHub. Fork it, use it and build on it. I like giving it to the community.
About the project
OpenAI launched ads inside ChatGPT and released the Advertiser API for them. So I built my own tool on it right away. Since September 2, 2026 it's verified on a live account, writes included.
With it, Claude Code builds a whole campaign from one JSON plan: the campaign, ad sets with contextual hints, the ads and UTMs. It reads performance and conversions and adjusts what needs adjusting. I give instructions in plain language.
It won't send a single write without confirmation and creates everything new as paused. It won't blow your budget by accident.
It checks the copy and the landing page against OpenAI's ad policies before anything goes to review. That saves the round where review would reject your ad over a favicon or a blocked OAI-AdsBot.
It's public on GitHub under the MIT license, together with a Claude Code skill.
What you get
- I run ChatGPT campaigns with plain language instructions.
- A whole campaign comes from one JSON plan.
- Nothing is written without confirmation, new things start paused.
- It checks OpenAI's policies before their review does.
- Public on GitHub with the skill, fork it for yourself.
How it works (under the hood)
- Python on top of the OpenAI Advertiser API v1.
- 96 commands: campaigns, audiences, conversions, feeds.
- plan-apply: resume an interrupted run with the same command.
- Dry-run by default, rate-limit budget, copy linting.
